We help small municipalities prepare and draw on EU funds, as well as implement and execute already approved projects. The Banská Bystrica Self-Governing Region, through the BBSK Development Agency, directly supports municipalities in preparing projects and effectively using available financial resources. This is one of the ways in which the region actively contributes to balancing regional differences within its territory.

Project Support for Municipalities
The Banská Bystrica Self-Governing Region assists municipalities through the Development Agency of the Banská Bystrica Self-Governing Region, n.o. in the preparation of projects and the use of EU funds. It is one of the forms in which the region directly HELPS in BALANCING REGIONAL DIFFERENCES on its territory.
We offer comprehensive services in the field of project management and grant management for municipalities in the Banská Bystrica region.
We will guide you through the process from idea to project plan, through identifying a suitable call, preparing and submitting an application for support to project implementation.
Experienced project managers in our department will guide you through these processes.

Areas in Which Local Governments Can Receive Assistance

Slovak Republic Recovery and Resilience Plan – Support for projects focused on the modernization of public buildings, energy efficiency, digitalization, and green measures.

The Slovakia Operational Program—the main source of EU funds for local governments for 2021–2027—funds a wide range of investments, from infrastructure and social services to innovation and green projects.

Environmental Fund – Grants for environmental measures, including waste management, air quality improvement, water protection, and improving the energy efficiency of public buildings.

Rural Development Program – Funding for projects in the areas of agriculture, rural infrastructure, municipal modernization, and improving the quality of life in rural areas.

Cross-Border Cooperation Programs – Support for joint projects between Slovak and foreign partners in the areas of regional development, tourism, transportation, and culture.

Sports Support Fund – Funding for the construction, renovation, and modernization of sports infrastructure, as well as support for youth and community sports.

Program objective
Support the professional growth of local government employees, provide them with basic knowledge and rules in the field of project management, and teach them how to avoid the most common mistakes in project implementation.
Our goal is to develop competencies, partnerships, and effective solutions that support the development of municipalities in the Banská Bystrica Self-Governing Region.

Target group: representatives of municipalities or their employees (for municipalities up to 2000 inhabitants)

Project Management Academy for university students
The Development Agency BBSK, n.o. in cooperation with UMB in Banská Bystrica implemented the ACADEMY programme, the aim of which was to provide students with basic knowledge, rules in the field of preparation and implementation of projects financed from external sources, with a priority focus on the European and Structural Investment Funds (ESIF).
Target group: students of 1st - 2nd year Mgr./Ing. Matej Bel University
Implementation date: October 2022 - June 2023
Duration: 19 modules
Method of delivery: combined form (face-to-face + distance/online form)
