Our goal is to create conditions for the development of sustainable regional development of municipalities operating in the Banská Bystrica Self-Governing Region. We contribute to increasing the economic, social and environmental resilience of our region.
In the area of project management, we provide assistance in balancing regional disparities in the territory of the region through the effective use of EU funds/subsidies for a specific target group - small municipalities with up to 5000 inhabitants.
- lProject support for municipalities
The Banská Bystrica Self-Governing Region assists municipalities through the Development Agency of the Banská Bystrica Self-Governing Region, n.o. in the preparation of projects and the use of EU funds. It is one of the forms in which the region directly HELPS in BALANCING REGIONAL DIFFERENCES on its territory.
We offer comprehensive services in the field of project management and grant management for municipalities in the Banská Bystrica region.
We will guide you through the process from idea to project plan, through identifying a suitable call, preparing and submitting an application for support to project implementation.

Smart Municipalities 2023 Conference
- Areas of assistance for local authorities
- SR Recovery and Resilience Plan - Support for projects focused on modernising public buildings, energy efficiency, digitalisation and green measures.
- The Operational Programme Slovakia - the main source of EU funds for municipalities for 2021-2027, finances a wide range of investments from infrastructure to social services to innovation and green projects.
- Environment Fund - Grants for environmental measures, including waste management, air quality improvement, water protection and energy efficiency improvements in public buildings.
- Rural Development Programme - Funding for projects in agriculture, rural infrastructure, modernising villages and improving the quality of life in rural areas.
- Cross-border cooperation programmes - Support for joint projects between Slovak and foreign partners in the fields of regional development, tourism, transport and culture.
- Sports Promotion Fund - Funding for the construction, reconstruction and upgrading of sports infrastructure, as well as the promotion of youth and community sport.
- Village Renewal Program - Support for small villages aimed at improving the environment, restoring public spaces and strengthening community life.
- State Budget Grant Schemes - Funding of projects from the state budget through various ministerial programmes and calls for proposals, for example in the areas of regional development, education, culture, social services and transport.
- Education - ACADEMY programme
As part of the Academy Programme, we are preparing a presentation event to help you navigate through the complex processes involved in the preparation and implementation of projects funded from external sources, with a particular focus on the European and Structural Investment Funds (ESIF). We will provide you with basic knowledge and rules, while also focusing on avoiding the most common mistakes during these processes and helping you to set up an efficient and cost-effective solution for your current projects.

The Development Agency BBSK, n.o. in cooperation with UMB in Banská Bystrica implemented the ACADEMY programme, the aim of which was to provide students with basic knowledge, rules in the field of preparation and implementation of projects financed from external sources, with a priority focus on the European and Structural Investment Funds (ESIF).
The aim of the academy was to create a space to acquire practical project management skills during their higher education studies in a public institution and thus increase their potential for employment in the labour market.
